Children & Families
Programme 2008

The Lower Shaw Farm Children’s Project provides seasonal creative play and learning opportunities for children and their families. It aims to encourage environmental awareness, an appreciation of nature, and a community spirit.

We offer children and their families an opportunity to play safely but adventurously, and take part in activities that include rural and seasonal crafts, games, story walks and informal learning in a friendly setting.

Once home to seventy black and white cows, the farm is now a 3-acre oasis in an area of suburban development. Its outbuildings have been converted to meeting rooms, simple accommodation, and workshops. With its organic vegetable, herb, and flower gardens, its wild areas, ponds, poultry, sheep. pig, and outdoor cooking and play areas, the farm has developed an atmosphere and character of its own.

Other activities at the farm include yoga and singing classes, a knitting circle, group visits, and residential courses. Much of the farm is wheelchair accessible, and we are happy to make arrangements for children and adults with special needs - please contact us for details.

For more information, please telephone 01793 771080. To book for an event in this leaflet, please telephone, e-mail, or use the Children & Families booking form.

Note on pricing:  It is hoped that no one will be prevented from attending events simply through lack of funds. In cases of financial hardship, reductions or free places are possible. Please ask.
