Cookery Courses 2017

Bread Baking for Beginners – a half day course with lunch.

Sun 22 and/or Mon 23 January
9.30am – 2pm
£57 – includes bread to take home and a simple lunch.
Bed and Breakfast available £29 per night (evening meal £10).

Join us in the Lower Shaw Farm kitchen for a morning of stirring, kneading, proving, and baking. You will learn our tried and tested method for making a yeasted bread dough, which can then be used for loaves, rolls, pizza, fruited breads, and more. You will also learn how to make a rye sourdough loaf, which is ideal for those wishing to cut down on wheat – and is delicious!

Price includes refreshments, all ingredients, recipe sheets, and bread to take home.

Cookery School

£150 includes accommodation and all meals and refreshments (if no accommodation is required, £120). (A single room in the main farm house is £30 extra, or £15 per person extra for twin/double/triple occupancy, please request on booking).

Would you like to expand your repertoire in the kitchen and discover how to use a range of new ingredients, and make some interesting things with the more familiar ones?

As well as learning how to prepare tasty and nutritious vegetarian meals and snacks, you will also have the opportunity to learn about healthy eating from our nutritional therapist Josie Cowgill, author of Veggie Comfort Food, who will be on hand to answer questions, clear up all the mixed messages and myths about foods and diets, and give advice on different dietary needs.

You will go home with many new recipes, and the inspiration to be even more creative in the kitchen!

The weekend begins on Friday evening and finishes after lunch on the Sunday.
