Working Weekend – in the spirit of WWOOF

22 – 24 February • No Charge

For more information, see Working Weekends section.

Lantern Making Weekend

22 – 24 February • Adult £144 • Child (11 – 18yrs) £75
with Mary Maguire

Lanterns cast a warm and nurturing light that is soothing in busy, stress-filled lives.

They can be used to create ambient lighting in the home and for decorations for special occasions. In the garden they can be hung from trees, or used to line a pathway, or float on a pond.

Mary Maguire, author of ‘Magic Lanterns’, has been teaching crafts for many years. She will show us how to make a variety of lanterns from recycled and natural materials.

You will take home not only 2 or 3 lanterns but also the knowledge and inspiration to make many more. This weekend is suitable for adults and for children aged from about 11 years. The price includes materials.

Walking Weekend

29 February – 2 March • Adult £114 • Child £66

The best thoughts come when the body is in motion, especially walking. And this is a weekend for both, good walking and good thoughts!

We will spend Saturday in the beautiful Cotswold Water Park, exploring the lake-side nature reserves and small sections of the infant Thames Path. There are bird hides from which to watch over-wintering wildfowl, and the views across tranquil water will soothe away any winter blues. We may even spot early signs of spring! The walk will be about 6 miles, and can be taken as slowly as we like.

On Sunday, we will explore Wiltshire down-land and an Iron Age hill fort, returning to the farm for lunch. In between walking, there may be time for a little yoga to help us stay supple and relaxed.
