Cycling Weekend
with Claire Parnell, Melissa McBride, and pedalling friends
9 – 11 July • £120
This is a weekend for anyone who likes riding their bike, with others.
Cycling together is a way of being together, being exercised, and being on the open road, country lane, or Sustrans cycle route.
On two wheels, we shall explore the countryside of north Wiltshire. There will be a choice of routes from which to choose, depending on your level of fitness and enthusiasm. (On booking form, please indicate your mileage longings and limits.)
There will also be an opportunity to learn and do a bit of bike maintenance, plus stretches for aching muscles.
Bring your bike! There is a cycle route from the station to the farm. Ask us for details.
Yoga and Massage 2
with Barbara Hicks and Mary Maguire
16 – 18 July • £126
Iyengar Yoga will be taught in a way that is suited to the beginner and the more experienced practitioner. The classes will focus on postures to improve flexibility, strength, and balance. The weekend will also include sessions on giving and receiving a relaxing and toning massage, covering different areas of the body.
On Saturday there will be an early morning Pranayama (breath control) class, then following breakfast, a two hour asana (postures) class, and a massage class. After lunch the options are to relax at the farm, or go on a led walk in the local countryside. In the late afternoon there is a choice between a restorative asana session, or a massage class. A relaxation session in the evening should ensure a peaceful sleep.
On Sunday morning the programme will be as Saturday, with a late lunch, and departures during the afternoon from about 2.30pm.
This course, with similar ingredients, will be repeated in October.
Meals are vegetarian, all freshly prepared, and delicious!
English Language Summer School
Friday 23rd July – Friday 6th August • £380 – for two weeks
This is an intensive two-week course. It is an opportunity to learn more or improve your English; to enjoy the farm at work and play; and to meet others who want to do the same.
Days will be divided into two parts, one for learning English by being taught and studying – 3 to 4 hours of intensive English language tuition with qualified ESOL teachers, and the other for learning English by helping with work round the farm and in the garden and kitchen, with friendly residents and other English speakers. They will help you use English in real situations and develop a truly useful vocabulary.
You will also have two days off, to explore the local countryside, prehistoric sites, pubs, and outlet shopping facilities.
This course is fully residential, and includes all meals. The maximum number of participants is 15.
